Wind Tunnel and KidsFest Event

Built and designed a wind tunnel for the KidsFest Event.

I designed and documented a portable, modular wind tunnel for the University of Canterbury (UC) Human Powered Club, created as an interactive exhibit to introduce young minds to engineering. Built for Christchurch's KidsFest and the Children's University outreach programs, the project invites kids to sculpt plasticine vehicles and test them in the tunnel to see who can design the most aerodynamic model.

As the lead designer on the project, I drove the mechanical design and structural documentation from concept to completion. Working with club members to assist with assembly, I engineered a modular three-section chassis, integrated a car radiator fan for airflow, and used a load cell system to measure aerodynamic drag in real-time. The resulting system is fully documented to ensure UC can reliably use it for outreach programs for years to come.
